3rd Year Wideouts
Author: Paul Adcock

Andre Johnson HOU WR - Johnson is coming into his 3rd year in the NFL. He has had two solid seasons to start his carreer. There is not doubt that he has great talent and potential. The problem for me comes from the fact that the team he plays for plays a conservative offense. They would rather run, run, run, run and run some more than throw it downfield. Also there isn't a strong reciever on the other side of the field to help with coverages. He will improve some this year, but I don't think he is ready to explode quite yet.

Anquan Boldin ARI WR - Boldin had an incredible rookie season. Last year he would have had another great year, but injury struck and he ended up dropping quite a bit. He will be fighting this year for the first WR spot in Arizona and to prove that he wasn't a one year wonder. I think if he goes injury free this year he will take over the number one spot for the Cardinals and have a great year.

Nate Burleson MIN WR - Burleson had an awesome year last year. He stepped up in a big way when Moss was injured and was consistent when Moss was in the lineup. This year he will need to play big every game, deal with every team he plays top corner, able be able to handle double teams. The Vikes defense is going to be much improved this year so I think they will be throwing less and running more at the end of games. I think Burleson will have a good year but I think he is going to regress a little bit.

Charles Rogers DET WR - Rodges has talent. Even though this is technically his third year in the NFL he has only about half a season worth of experience do to injuries. In 03 he had a great first fives games and then went down to injury. Last year he went down after three plays. In the games he has played he has looked good but it is hard to predict a bustout season on a guy who has been plagued by injury.

Tyrone Calico TEN WR - Calico was injured last year and has no stats to speak of. He has yet to really show that he has what it takes to be a top tier WR in the NFL. The previous two years working with Derrick Mason had to be a big help to him though. Having worked with Mason and been in the system for a couple of years will have him showing something this year, I just don't know how much.

Brandon Lloyd SF WR - Lloyd is an improving player. He is getting better at running routes and makes plays over the middle. He is also getting better at going down the field. He isn't the type of player you are looking at to jump huge in the third year. He is going to be playing most of the season with a rookie QB, and he isn't as strong or speedy as some of the other guys out there. He will improve some this year but don't look for a huge jump in stats.
